Senior Mechanical Engineer - autonomous drones & sensor systems
Does designing autonomous drones & sensor systems using lightweight materials, topology optimization and advanced manufacturing methods sound interesting? Apply as a Senior Mechanical Engineer!
Does autonomous drones and AI sound awesome? By combining software, sensors, and autonomous technologies, we put data to work to boost efficiency and reliability within the infrastructure, construction, environment, and public sectors. Driven by the need to build and maintain the world’s infrastructure in a sustainable way, we empower modern society by transforming data into insights and living digital twins.
We are now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team of passionate and motivated engineers, working out of headquarters outside Stavanger, and our mission is to build and maintain the world's infrastructure sustainably, empowering modern society with cutting-edge technology.
The right candidate for the job:
- has a passion for technology and innovation
- is self-driven and motivated
- enjoys working with varied tasks, in large and small projects
- drives improvements from problem identification to release of solution
- collaborates efficiently with others and is happy to mentor and share experience
Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for mechanical design for our proprietary, autonomous drone and sensor systems.
You will be directly involved in the design, prototyping, and development of cutting-edge aerospace products. In addition to performing design of lightweight components, creating vibrational and structural analysis, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in mechatronics, electronics and assembly teams to create detailed build instructions and ensure smooth manufacturing processes. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy being deeply engaged in both development and hands-on prototyping, this role is for you.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mechanical design of drone systems incl. electromechanical integration of electronics and sensor systems.
- Specification of systems, systems engineering and requirement engineering.
- Modelling and analysis of lightweight mechanical systems, from concept to final design, including eg. FEA and FMEA/FMECA.
- Documentation, incl. mechanical CAD management, drawings and engineering BOM's.
- Testing and validations of systems and modules, contributing to both specific development and knowledge generation. Creating test strategies and leading test activities.
- Drive and improve mechanical development processes and the efficient use of systems and tools.
- Support for internal production and maintenance of drone systems, and support for qualification and certification of products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical, mechatronics, robotics, automotive Engineering or other related subjects
- 5 years’ experience with development of mechanical and mechatronic systems
- Experience from all stages of development, from concept to detailed design, analysis, testing, documentation and sustaining engineering
- Expertise in designing using lightweight materials such as CFRP, GFRP, Titanium and aluminum alloys.
- Knowledge of structural, fatigue and vibrational analysis.
- Experience with hands-on work to design and build tests, testing and prototyping.
- English – oral and written, preferably also a Nordic language
What we offer
As a member of the Stellaire team, you will enjoy:
- Being part of a dynamic and innovative team with high ambitions for technical excellence and market growth in a rapidly emerging market
- Opportunities for both technical and personal development through work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-functional team
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- A small team with big ambitions
- Work with the important things such as making the power grid ready for the green transition while also make it more resilient towards climate changes.
The electronics engineer is located in our office at Forus in the Stavanger area.
